  Silver Jubilee Convocation of Karachi Medical & Dental College.  
  Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar said the Karachi Medical & Dental College is unique in many ways as this is the only medical and dental college run by a metropolitan corporation and t he first college in the public sector in Karachi to have a dental section. KMDC was the pioneer of entrance test which is now a culture in both private and public sector medical institutions all over the country. He was speaking as chief guest in the 5th Convocation of the Karachi Medical & Dental College which is also its Silver Jubilee event. Vice Chancellor of University of Karachi Prof.Dr. M. Ajmal Khan, Chairman DMC East Moeed Anwer, Chairman DMC central Rehan Hashmi, metropolitan commissioner Dr. Asghar Abbas, chairman law committee Arif Khan advocate, chairman finance committee Nadeem Hidayat Hashmi, chairperson medical committee Naheed Fatima, Senior director medical services Dr. Birbal, principal KMDC Dr. Nargis Anjum, Sr. Director Coordination Masood Alam and other officers and elected representatives were also present on this occasion. Mayor Karachi said the academic standards of Karachi Medical & Dental College are high and performance of students in the professional and postgraduate examinations is comparable to the other more established colleges. He said it is our priority to take interest in maintaining the health service standards at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, the affiliated teaching hospital of Karachi Medical & Dental College. All this endeavor will go a long way in serving the poor ailing masses of the city but also in improving the clinical training of both under and postgraduate students of the Karachi Medical & Dental College. He on this occasion assured full and continued support to the principal of Karachi Medical & Dental College, the Director Medical services, MS of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and the faculty members of the Karachi Medical & Dental College in any further development plans. He said the convocation is indeed a day of the graduates and very happy occasion for the students, their families and the teachers. This is an important mile stone in their professional career when they are graduating and entering in practical life where they will have to face enormous challenges He urged the graduates to develop a very strong sense of belonging to this community and serve with a leadership role as WHO expects from them. The Vice Chancellor of University of Karachi Prof. Dr. M. Ajmal Khan said the Karachi Medical & Dental College achieved significant progress in the field of medical education and became a recognized medical institution of the country. He appreciated the efforts of KMDC Faculty members and expressed hope that the graduates would start their practical life with serving the ailing humanity. He said the female students are equally important for the medical profession and therefore they must continue their education and serve the society. Earlier the vice chairperson of the convocation committee Dr. Tazeen Fatima Munim presented the welcome address whereas principal dr, Nargis Anjum gave details of the progress of the college and said the students have achieved excellent results in the university examinations. The secretary of the convocation committee dr. Nasir Ali Khan thanked all the guests and the participants and said all of them have important role in the success of this event.
