Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar paid a detailed visit of Korangi, Landhi, and Malir on Thursday along with MPA Aamir Moeen, Sajid Ahmed and Chairman DMC Korangi Nayyar Raza to review and inspect works being carried out under 100 days cleanliness campaign whereas D.G Technical Services Shahab Anwer, D.G Parks Afaq Mirza, Sr. Director Municipal Services Masood Alam, Sr. Director Anti Encroachments Nazeer Lakhani, Director Education Nayyar Iqbal and other officers also accompanied him on this occasion. Mayor Karachi also inaugurated the buildings of seven English medium Muhammad Ali Jinnah Schools in different areas of Korangi and Landhi which have been upgraded during cleanliness drive in the area. Later while addressing to a press briefing at Malir Town Office, Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar reiterated his resolve that development and rehabilitation works will be continued despite of hurdles because this city is our home and we will never let our next generations let down. Referring to the government policy of neglecting Karachi, he said this city provides Rs500 billion in the national exchequer and in return gets only 50million rupees. Those who said we give 50 crores to Karachi should feel ashamed on it. He said people of Karachi watching everything; we build this city and the government destroying it now. All the money allocated for different works in Karachi must spend here; some contractors and engineers are trying to hoodwink people. If any embezzlement in funds was seen, we will not allow them to complete the project. Mayor Karachi said in the last eight years all KMC departments have been devastated and the whole structure went down. Officers indulged in corruption by getting lucrative posts through bribe. Whatever powers we have, we will fight it and work for the city. He said we want equal level of works in all areas of Karachi. Development works in Korangi should continue without any break. Chairman of DMC Korangi Nayyar Raza informed Mayor Karachi that 400 streets of Koarangi were being made concrete and the students of model English schools in Korangi and Landhi would get free of cost books and uniform.
